David Harbour is set to portray Trautman in John Rambo.
The Baker Team has identified its Covey Leader, with THR reporting that David Harbour, known for his roles in Stranger Things and Thunderbolts*, will portray Major Sam Trautman in the upcoming Lionsgate and Millennium prequel, John Rambo.
Harbour takes over the role of the Green Beret from Richard Crenna, who played the then-Colonel Trautman in the original Rambo trilogy alongside Sylvester Stallone as John J. Rambo. The character of Rambo now goes to Noah Centineo (The Recruit, Street Fighter), who will likely undergo recruitment, training, and guidance from Harbour's Trautman during their tour of Vietnam in this origin story for the legendary character.
John Rambo is directed by Jalmari Helander (Sisu), featuring a script by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani (Black Adam), with Sylvester Stallone serving as an executive producer. Anthony and Joe Russo are also executive producing, fresh off their collaboration with Harbour on Marvel’s upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday, where he reprises his role as Red Guardian.
The cast of John Rambo alongside Noah Centineo and David Harbour includes Yao, Jason Tobin, Quincy Isaiah, Jefferson White, and Tayme Thapthimthong. Filming concluded last month, but there is currently no information regarding a release date.
