Charles Dance is set to join the cast of The Batman Part II.
Deadline has reported that Charles Dance has been added to the cast of The Batman Part II, the much-anticipated sequel to director Matt Reeves’ 2022 reboot of The Batman.
Though not yet confirmed by DC Studios, the Game of Thrones alum is said to be playing the role of Charles Dent, the father of Gotham City District Attorney Harvey Dent, who will be portrayed by Marvel actor Sebastian Stan. Stan's co-star from the MCU, Scarlett Johansson, is also set to play Harvey's wife, Gilda.
Dance's casting ends months of speculation about the role, with earlier reports indicating that Robert De Niro, Liam Neeson, Guy Pearce, Ed Harris, Brad Pitt, Stellan Skarsgard, Viggo Mortensen, and Daniel Craig had all been offered and subsequently turned down the part. If this is true, it raises intriguing possibilities…
The Batman Part II will feature Robert Pattinson returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman, alongside Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin. Further casting updates and details remain undisclosed, but more news is expected in the coming weeks as filming is set to begin in the UK in late May or early June.
The Batman Part II is slated for release on October 1, 2027.
