Two legendary sci-fi franchises come together in Marvel's Predator versus The Planet of the Apes.
Marvel is preparing to unite two legendary sci-fi film franchises for its upcoming 20th Century Studios crossover this July, as the galaxy's top hunter seeks new prey on a planet dominated by apes in the five-issue limited series Predator vs. The Planet of the Apes, written by Greg Pak (Planet Hulk) and illustrated by Alan Robinson (X-Men Infinity Comic). The official synopsis for the series states:
Worlds collide when a lethal Yautja crash-lands on the famed Planet of the Apes! Following a botched rescue mission, astronaut Arch finds herself entrenched in a hostile society of apes, where humans are enslaved. However, the tables turn as the apes become the hunted when Predators begin tracking them! A three-way conflict is about to ignite among humans, apes, and Yautja – who will emerge victorious?!
“I have vivid memories of watching the original Planet of the Apes film on a small 13″ black and white TV back in the early 1980s that completely blew my mind,” Pak reminisced. “So, I was ecstatic when Marvel approached me to create Planet of the Apes comics—and even more delighted when they mentioned it would be a Predator book too!”
“Both Planet of the Apes and Predator are among the most iconic sci-fi franchises ever—I would be excited to work on either of them. But combining them? Just amazing,” Pak added. “Both franchises engage in incredible world-building and delve into compelling, organic sci-fi, tackling substantial and perpetually relevant themes of violence and war. They also take bold risks and leaps consistently. I’m eager to share what we’re developing with Alan Robinson and the rest of the creative team.”
In addition to the main cover by Stonehouse, Predator vs. The Planet of the Apes #1 will feature a variant cover by Tim Seeley and the first of five Movie Poster Variants by artist Chris Campana; check them out here…
