DC's Lanterns announces an August release date on HBO Max.

      DC Studios has revealed the premiere date for the anticipated HBO series *Lanterns*, featuring Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) and Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge) in the roles of Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

      The series will center on Pierre’s character Stewart, who is mentored by Jordan, but they soon become involved in a mysterious murder investigation set in a small American town. Although the premiere was previously expected in August, the official date has now been confirmed as August 16th, when the Green Lanterns will take to the skies. The show is developed by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and DC comics writer Tom King.

      *Lanterns* represents a significant moment for the Green Lantern franchise, being the first live-action project since the 2011 film and the debut of the beloved character John Stewart on screen. Moreover, viewers can anticipate seeing Stewart again, as Pierre will reprise his role in James Gunn's Superman sequel, *Man of Tomorrow*.

      Nathan Fillion will also return as Guy Gardner in the new DC Universe, with plans for all three Earthbound members of the Green Lantern Corps to meet at some point during the season.

      The series showcases new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) alongside the legendary Lantern Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler). Together, they are plunged into a dark, Earth-bound mystery as they investigate a murder in the heart of America.

      *Lanterns* features Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as members of the Green Lantern Corps, with Kelly Macdonald as Sheriff Kelly, Garrett Dillahunt as William Macon, Poorna Jagannathan as Zoe, Sherman Augustus and J. Alphonse Nicholson as John Senior, Jasmine Cephas Jones as Bernadette Stewart, and Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, along with Nathan Fillion returning to play Guy Gardner.

      *Lanterns* will debut on August 16th.
