Atomfall is a TV series currently in development by Rebellion and Two Brothers.
Rebellion's vision of a post-apocalyptic UK is set to be adapted for television, as Two Brothers Pictures announced their collaboration with the studio to create a TV series based on the BAFTA-winning action survival video game Atomfall.
The narrative takes place in an alternate reality where the 1957 Windscale nuclear disaster left much of the Lake District engulfed in radioactive contamination, resulting in the creation of a fortified, militarized Quarantine Zone. The story follows a main character who awakens within this Quarantine Zone without any recollection of how they got there and soon becomes embroiled in a conflict involving various factions.
“Atomfall possesses a unique British tone and setting, and it has been a true pleasure to develop this project with the Rebellion team – particularly since it involves two brothers collaborating with two brothers (Jason Kingsley CBE and Chris Kingsley CBE, the co-founders of Rebellion),” expressed Emmy and Golden Globe-winning writers and producers Harry and Jack Williams (Fleabag, The Tourist). “There’s an exhilarating aspect to broadening this bizarre and unsettling story for TV.”
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Two Brothers to bring the universe of Atomfall to the small screen,” stated Jason and Chris Kingsley of Rebellion, who will also serve as executive producers for the series. “Harry and Jack showcased a genuine affection for Atomfall and shared their own unique conclusions while playing the game. It’s always invigorating to work with individuals who have the same enthusiasm for creating and narrating compelling stories, and we are confident this partnership will yield a television series that will please both fans of the game and a wider audience.”
The Atomfall TV series will be a co-production between Two Brothers and Rebellion, which is also working on an adaptation of its 2000 AD comic strip Rogue Trooper, directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Warcraft). You can view the teaser trailer for Rogue Trooper here.
