Rebellion and Two Brothers are currently developing the Atomfall TV series.
Rebellion's vision for a post-apocalyptic UK is making its way to television, as Two Brothers Pictures has announced their collaboration with the studio to create a TV series adaptation of the BAFTA-winning action survival video game, Atomfall.
The story is set in an alternate reality where the Windscale nuclear accident of 1957 rendered much of the Lake District covered in radioactive contamination, leading to the formation of a militarized, walled Quarantine Zone. The narrative follows a protagonist who awakens in this Quarantine Zone, lacking any memory of how they got there, and soon finds themselves caught in a conflict among various factions.
“Atomfall captures a uniquely British spirit and setting, and it has been a true pleasure to develop it with the Rebellion team – particularly as two brothers collaborating with two brothers (Jason Kingsley CBE and Chris Kingsley CBE, the co-founders of Rebellion),” said Emmy and Golden Globe-winning writers and producers Harry and Jack Williams (Fleabag, The Tourist). “We find it thrilling to expand this strange and unsettling narrative for a television audience.”
“We’re thrilled to partner with Two Brothers to bring the world of Atomfall to the small screen,” said Jason and Chris Kingsley of Rebellion, who will also serve as executive producers on the series. “Harry and Jack clearly have a deep affection for Atomfall and even shared their own unique endings while playing the game. It’s always exciting to collaborate with those who have the same passion for storytelling, and we believe this partnership will produce a series that will enchant both fans of the game and new viewers.”
The Atomfall TV series will be co-produced by Two Brothers and Rebellion, which is also working on adapting its 2000 AD comic strip Rogue Trooper, with director Duncan Jones (Moon, Warcraft) at the helm. You can watch the teaser trailer for Rogue Trooper here.
