Time and Water Trailer: Sara Dosa's Renowned Documentary Portrays Life and Nature Fading Away
Reuniting with National Geographic Documentary Films after her Oscar-nominated documentary, Fire of Life, Sara Dosa returned to the Sundance Film Festival with her new film, Time and Water. Scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release starting May 29, with subsequent availability on National Geographic and Disney+ later this year, the first trailer has been unveiled.
Here’s the synopsis: "In TIME AND WATER, acclaimed Icelandic poet and author Andri Snær Magnason is in pursuit of something intangible. As the glacial ice of his homeland continues to melt, he creates a time capsule to preserve this moment and send it to the future, before everything he cherishes disappears. Incorporating his own collected materials, photographs and films from his grandparents, as well as traditional songs and folktales, Andri weaves together his family's narrative with that of the surrounding landscape. The film serves as a universal contemplation on the essence of home and what it signifies to exist during significant transformative change.
Dan Mecca remarked in his review, “Iceland boasts a rich history that its people take great pride in. The glaciers play a crucial role in that history, and they are rapidly melting due to climate change. While this issue isn't new, the alarming pace at which they are vanishing is increasingly concerning. Time and Water is structured as a time capsule intended for those who will witness the significant and tragic changes ahead. Dosa is adept at setting the tone in the documentary realm, a critical aspect of her previous film, Fire of Love, a love story set against hazardous volcanoes that received an Oscar nomination a few years back."
