The Atomfall TV series is being developed by Rebellion and Two Brothers.
Rebellion’s vision for a post-apocalyptic UK is coming to television, as Two Brothers Pictures has announced a collaboration to develop a TV adaptation of the BAFTA-winning action survival video game Atomfall.
The story is set in an alternative reality where the Windscale nuclear disaster of 1957 spread radioactive fallout over much of the Lake District, creating a militarized Quarantine Zone. The narrative follows a protagonist who awakens within this zone with no recollection of how they got there and soon becomes embroiled in conflicts between various factions.
"Atomfall has a unique British tone and atmosphere, and it has been a great pleasure to develop it with the Rebellion team—especially since we're two pairs of brothers working together (Jason Kingsley CBE and Chris Kingsley CBE, the co-founders of Rebellion)," said Emmy and Golden Globe-winning writers and producers Harry and Jack Williams (Fleabag, The Tourist). "It's thrilling to broaden this strange, unnerving story for the small screen."
“We are thrilled to partner with Two Brothers to bring the universe of Atomfall to television,” remarked Rebellion's Jason and Chris Kingsley, who will also serve as executive producers for the series. “Harry and Jack expressed a genuine enthusiasm for Atomfall and shared their unique experiences while playing the game. Collaborating with individuals who have a shared passion for creating and telling compelling stories is always invigorating, and we are confident this partnership will produce a television series that will appeal to both game fans and new viewers alike.”
The Atomfall TV series will be co-produced by Two Brothers and Rebellion, which is also working on an adaptation of the 2000 AD comic strip Rogue Trooper by director Duncan Jones (Moon, Warcraft). The teaser trailer for Rogue Trooper can be viewed here.
