      **Arco (Ugo Bienvenu)**

In his debut feature, *Arco*, Ugo Bienvenu offers a distinctive and thought-provoking take on the solarpunk genre. He presents a vision of the sustainable utopia typical of the genre: fresh air, vibrant gardens, flourishing wildlife, and cities in the clouds (imagine Jack and Victoria’s residence in *Oblivion*, but with significantly more greenery). However, rather than juxtaposing this paradise with our current reality, Bienvenu sets his reference point 50 years earlier, in a world painfully grappling with devastating wildfires and catastrophic storms, mourning its past inaction. This subtle yet impactful shift in perspective lends the whimsical adventure at the film's core a sobering sense of uncertainty. – Oliver W. (full review)

      **The Bride! (Maggie Gyllenhaal)**

While many have likened Maggie Gyllenhaal’s *The Bride!* to another recent WB antihero film that failed to resonate with audiences, *Joker: Folie à Deux*, I found both projects, if not revolutionary, at least considerably more intriguing than the typical Hollywood blockbuster. Crafted with enough care to effectively utilize her considerable resources, there is sufficient energy and style here to suggest this film will likely develop a minor cult following in the future. – Jordan R.

      **Where to Stream:** HBO Max

      **Bunnylovr (Katarina Zhu)**

Tender and intricate, Katarina Zhu’s directorial debut *Bunnylovr* is a fascinating character study that never fully clarifies the chaotic life of Becca (Zhu), a personal assistant by day and cam girl by night. Perhaps this ambiguity is intentional, as the film often flirts with the edge of something captivating only to retreat — potentially a characteristic of Becca, a millennial feeling trapped. She is initially attracted to a mysterious client who refuses to appear on camera with her. This Philadelphia native receives a rare bunny through the mail for companionship, only for him to insist that she performs a show. Their connection seems driven more by loneliness and isolation than by fetish, though the film keeps the stranger’s motivations somewhat unclear until he sets his boundaries, at one point stating this is a transaction. – John F.       **Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair (Quentin Tarantino)**

One of the most remarkable theatrical experiences I had last year was *Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair*, Quentin Tarantino’s reimagined version of the revenge epic initially released in two parts. This new version eliminates the cliffhanger ending from Vol. 1 and the recap that begins Vol. 2, and includes a previously unseen 7½-minute animated segment. With no upcoming Quentin Tarantino films on the horizon (at least none directed by him), film enthusiasts can now enjoy this long-anticipated masterpiece from his filmography at home.

      **Where to Stream:** Peacock

      **Mile End Kicks (Chandler Levack)**

Alanis Morissette’s *Jagged Little Pill* resonates deeply with Grace Pine (Barbie Ferreira)—and it’s also the reason her pitch convinces a publisher to grant her an advance and sign her for a 33 1/3 book on the topic: the feminist anger; the authenticity; the fact that society was willing to invest millions to hear a woman reveal her innermost thoughts. There’s catharsis and inspiration in this. What holds Grace back from attaining similar success as an honest, discerning music critic in Toronto? The initial rush declares, “Nothing!” But the eventual reality brings a thoughtful revision: herself. – Jared M. (full review)

      **Miroirs No. 3 (Christian Petzold)**

Christian Petzold’s fifteenth feature, *Miroirs No. 3*, is his fourth collaboration with Paula Beer, the actress who first starred in his 2018 film *Transit*, a work that shares significant themes with his latest, particularly the notion of complete strangers inexplicably recognizing each other and feeling a profound connection without speaking. Unsurprisingly, *Miroirs No. 3* is, like its predecessors, an enigma. – Luke H. (full review)

      **Mother Mary (David Lowery)**

The first sound we hear in *Mother Mary* is Michaela Coel’s voice. She foresees Mother Mary’s arrival and warns us of the curse surrounding this story. Anyone who has watched television in the last decade would recognize the richness and clarity of her tone. But now, on the big screen, we can experience it
