Today, we highlight a genuinely underrated actor: Laurence Fishburne! Our B-Sides feature: Bad Company, Fled, Hoodlum, and Biker Boyz. Conor and guest host Mitchell Beaupre dive into Fishburne’s early roles, his peak during the mid-90s (which includes three of our featured films!), and the parts he turned down over time.
They discuss whether Kevin Hooks’ Fled (a '90s reinterpretation of The Defiant Ones) is worth watching, if Oliver Parker’s Othello succeeds as a film, and the other occasion when Fishburne portrayed a character inspired by the notorious gangster Bumpy Johnson (that would be Francis Ford Coppola’s overlooked The Cotton Club).
