Leah McKendrick is developing a biopic about Shania Twain.
Sony is preparing to produce "Shania," a musical biopic centered on country-pop star Shania Twain, with Leah McKendrick (Voicemails for Isabelle) at the helm as director.
A Canadian artist, Shania Twain launched her career in the 1980s and gained massive popularity in the 90s with her second album. Throughout her career, she has sold over 100 million albums and is celebrated for hits like "Man! I Feel Like A Woman," "That Don’t Impress Me Much," "Any Man of Mine," among others. Her seventh album is scheduled for release in July.
McKendrick will direct the film based on a script she penned herself. Further details about the project remain undisclosed, but Twain will be a producer along with Amie Karp.
McKendrick is recognized for her work on "Scrambled," which she wrote, directed, and starred in. Her upcoming film, "Voicemails for Isabelle," which she also wrote, features Nick Robinson and Zoey Deutch, and is set to premiere on June 19th.
