Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube are in discussions to reprise their roles in 24 Jump Street.
Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube are reportedly in discussions to reprise their roles in 24 Jump Street, the third film in the $500 million-grossing franchise from Sony Pictures. Named 24 Jump Street due to the lengthy development process that required skipping a number, Variety states that the three actors are expected to return for the comedy, which will be directed by Rodney Rothman, known for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Rothman will direct from a script he co-wrote with Jonah Hill and Meghan Malloy (Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken). Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who helmed 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street, are attached as producers.
Inspired by the late ’80s television series featuring Johnny Depp, the 2012 film 21 Jump Street and its 2014 sequel, 22 Jump Street, were both hits with audiences and critics alike. They showcased Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as Schmidt and Jenko, two inept officers who go undercover in schools to dismantle criminal enterprises. Ice Cube portrayed their increasingly frustrated boss, Captain Dickson.
Discussions about a third film have circulated in entertainment news for over a decade, with a Jump Street and Men in Black crossover once nearing production at Sony.
