The Punisher is set to confront a zombie apocalypse in Marvel Zombies: War Zone.

      When the Fantastic Four and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes fall victim to a zombie plague that wreaks havoc on New York, The Punisher and a motley crew of street-level heroes—Luke Cage, Elektra, Iron Fist, and Moon Knight—must step up to save the day in the five-issue limited series Marvel Zombies: War Zone, set to debut this September, written by Tom Waltz and illustrated by Jaime Infante.

      “Starting my writing journey in the comics world with my own military-horror tale, Children of the Grave, and then moving on to a lengthy period of writing about mutated ninjas—as well as being a devoted superhero fan—receiving the chance to write a Marvel Zombies series was an amazing opportunity to merge all three elements of my career," Waltz remarked. “My initial thought was to bring the well-known Marvel zombie concept to the streets, and who better to see it through than an old Marine like me: Frank Castle, the Punisher.”

      “I’m eager for fans to experience the darkly beautiful artwork by rising-star artist Jaime Infante for this gruesome journey into the depths of NYC,” Waltz continued. “Guns, guts, gore, ninjas, capes, and cowls—all of it is present!”

      “I wish I could inform my twelve-year-old self that I’d be illustrating a comic for Marvel. And the Punisher, no less!” stated Infante, making his Marvel Comics debut with this series. “Additionally, I admire Tom Waltz, and his script allows me to explore deep shadows and dynamic action.”

      Marvel Zombies: War Zone #1 will be available on September 2nd.
