A new James Bond has been revealed for the forthcoming audio drama Young Bond: SilverFin.
In February, Big Finish Productions announced they would be producing Young Bond: SilverFin, an original full-cast audio drama series that delves into the teenage years of the iconic character created by Ian Fleming. They also shared plans to hold auditions for the roles of young James and his friend Wilder Lawless.
After a large number of audio auditions (over 500 candidates), and following the selection of 12 finalists for the role of Bond, producers Robert Valentine and Lizzie Worsdell, along with writer-director Barnaby Edwards, have selected Isaac Rouse to portray James Bond, with Charlotte McBurney cast as Wilder Lawless. Rouse may be recognized for his performances in The Crown, Genius, and as Charlie Bucket in the stage adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Charlotte McBurney has received a BAFTA nomination for her portrayal of Amicia in the A Plague Tale series.
Amanda Douglas, Managing Director of Ian Fleming Publications Ltd, remarked: “Isaac exuded a quiet confidence and authenticity that made him an ideal fit for the role of Young Bond, while Charlotte perfectly captured the charisma and energy of Wilder Lawless.”
Written by Charlie Higson, Silverfin is the inaugural Young Bond novel, first released in 2005, and narrates James’ arrival at Eton College in 1933. These new challenges, along with new friends and school bullies, offer Bond his first taste of action, shaping his future as the world’s most famous secret agent.
Young Bond: SilverFin will consist of an eight-hour full-cast audio drama released in two box sets in October. Pre-orders are currently available for £24.99 for the download or £35.99 for the download and collector’s edition CD. There are also various bundles featuring a range of collectible items.
