The Debut Trailer: Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti Star in Jesse Eisenberg’s Third Feature Film

      While Jesse Eisenberg will soon lend his voice to the upcoming Minions film, his significant contribution to cinema this year is his third directorial project, following 2024's Oscar-winning A Real Pain. The Debut features a cast that includes Julianne Moore, Paul Giamatti, Halle Bailey, Havana Rose Liu, Colton Ryan, Lilli Cooper, Maulik Pancholy, and Bernadette Peters, and is set to be released by A24 this fall after a likely festival circuit. In anticipation of this release, the first trailer has been unveiled.

      The trailer reveals Eisenberg's approach reminiscent of Rivette, focusing on a shy woman (played by Moore) who is cast in a new musical at her local theater in New Jersey. Giamatti portrays the overbearing director, who pushes Moore’s character to her limits and beyond. Eisenberg, who is expected to make a cameo, demonstrated his talent both as a writer and director in his previous film, making this appear to be another compelling showcase for actors.
