Teaser for The Weight featuring Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe

      After its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January, Vertical has unveiled a poster and trailer for the upcoming release of The Weight, a historical drama directed by Padraic McKinley.

      Set in Oregon during the Great Depression, the film follows Samuel (Ethan Hawke), a man separated from his family and forced to labor at a harsh prison camp. His chance for an early release and reunion with his young daughter arrives when warden Clancy (Russell Crowe) presents him with a risky proposition: to smuggle gold from a distant mine.

      Alongside Hawke and Crowe, the cast includes Julia Jones, Austin Amelio, Avi Nash, and Sam Hazeldine. Check out the trailer below.

      In Oregon in 1933, Samuel Murphy is taken away from his daughter and sent to a harsh work camp. Warden Clancy offers him the possibility of an early release if he can smuggle gold through perilous terrain, but tensions rise among the crew, leading Murphy to reconsider how far he is willing to go to reunite with his child.

      The Weight is scheduled for release on September 18th.
