      With just over a week remaining until the highly anticipated release of Christopher Nolan’s Greek epic, The Odyssey, Universal has released a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Tom Holland’s training in combat and swordplay for the film.

      In The Odyssey, Holland plays Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, who is determined to locate his long-lost father and safeguard his mother Penelope and their home from suitors eager to marry Penelope and take over as rulers of Ithaca.

      Holland is familiar with action scenes, having starred as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films, a character he will reprise two weeks after The Odyssey's release in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, he has never engaged in swordfighting in his previous roles. The new featurette highlights Holland's training and hints at a climactic battle on a cliff in Italy as Telemachus embarks on his own adventure. Watch the featurette below…

      Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey, is a grand action epic filmed worldwide using cutting-edge IMAX® film technology. This film brings Homer’s epic tale to IMAX® screens for the first time and is scheduled to premiere in theaters globally on July 17, 2026.
