Exclusive Poster for Bingham Bryant's FID Marseille Premiere El espejismo
In the time since co-directing For the Plasma and leading Ricky D’Ambrose’s Notes on an Appearance, Bingham Bryant has produced a variety of notable short films and made sporadic appearances on screen. He will debut his first feature as a solo director, El espejismo (Mirage), at FID Marseille on Wednesday, and we are excited to reveal a beautiful poster created by Igor Ramos.
Starring Constance Rousseau (known for Mia Hansen-Løve’s All is Forgiven and Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Daguerrotype) and Rita Azevedo Gomes, the film is succinctly summarized by the festival as follows: “Mirages have been reported along the Spanish coast. A young French woman travels to San Sebastián to witness these visual phenomena. There, she encounters a mysterious Portuguese woman who shares a tale from her youth: one of obsession and a perspective that can invert the world.”
El espejismo (Mirage) draws inspiration from a short story by Japanese author Edogawa Rampo. Bryant explains to FID Marseille that, in developing the film, he emphasized long takes similar to those of Paul Vecchiali, noting that “the long take served as a foundational principle throughout the film, from the writing and budgeting to the scheduling and emotional performances.”
