Poster Exclusivo para el Debut de Bingham Bryant en FID Marseille: El Espejismo
In the time since co-directing For the Plasma and working on Ricky D’Ambrose’s Notes on an Appearance, Bingham Bryant has produced a variety of impressive short films and made occasional appearances onscreen. He will unveil his solo feature directorial debut, El espejismo (Mirage), at FID Marseille on Wednesday, and we are pleased to present a beautiful poster designed by Igor Ramos.
The film, featuring Constance Rousseau (from Mia Hansen-Løve’s All is Forgiven and Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Daguerrotype) and Rita Azevedo Gomes, is succinctly described by the festival: “Mirages have been sighted along the Spanish coast. A young French woman travels to San Sebastián to witness these visual phenomena. There, she encounters a mysterious Portuguese woman who shares a story from her youth: one of obsession and a gaze that can transform the world.”
El espejismo (Mirage) is adapted from a short story by Japanese author Edogawa Rampo, and Bryant explains to FID Marseille that he focused on long takes inspired by Paul Vecchiali, “allowing the extended take to serve as a fundamental principle throughout the film, influencing everything from writing to budgeting and scheduling, as well as the emotional depth of the performances.”
