Dakota Fanning and Jake Johnson Reflect on Their Lives in the Initial Trailer for Joe Swanberg’s The Sun Never Sets.
After a fruitful period from the mid-2000s to the mid-2010s, Joe Swanberg has reduced his output, but he is now making a comeback with his first feature in a while. "The Sun Never Sets," featuring Dakota Fanning and Jake Johnson, premiered at SXSW earlier this year and will begin its theatrical run in Chicago on August 28, expanding to more locations the following week. In anticipation of its release, IFC has unveiled the first trailer.
Here’s the synopsis: “Wendy (Dakota Fanning) thinks she is perfectly content in her relationship until her older boyfriend, Jack (Jake Johnson), a divorced man with children, proposes a break to ensure she is genuinely comfortable with the idea of forgoing marriage and children. During this period, Wendy unexpectedly encounters her ex, Chuck (Cory Michael Smith), who rekindles her carefree and spontaneous nature and suddenly expresses a desire for a family. The three of them navigate a chaotic, confusing, and often humorous love triangle, illustrating that the quest for love can be both beautiful and complicated. The film was shot in 35mm on location in Alaska."
