Locarno Film Festival Reveals 2026 Program

      Scheduled for August 5-15, the Locarno Film Festival has announced its program for the 2026 edition. With 233 films from 69 countries, including 103 world premieres, the 79th edition will showcase titles such as Hong Sangsoo’s *Nowhere to Lay My Eyes*, Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña’s *Donkey Princess*, Beatrice Gibson’s *At Night*, Ana Vaz’s *Fireflower*, and Denis Côté’s *Nobody’s Violence*, among others.

      Artistic Director Giona A. Nazzaro commented, “This adventurous lineup, rich with surprises, addresses contemporary challenges without compromising the enjoyment of storytelling and entertainment. Our selection features films set against the backdrop of today’s complexities, offering explorations and reflections on the ongoing changes within cinema and the broader audiovisual landscape. Cinema, in all its forms and potential, curiously investigates genres and styles in pursuit of the spark of the future we all desire.”
