American Doctor Trailer: Three Heroes Confront the Health Crisis Amid the Gaza Genocide

Poh Si Teng’s *American Doctor* is a poignant and distressing depiction of Palestinian, Jewish, and Zoroastrian doctors who risk their lives to care for the countless victims of the ongoing genocide in Gaza and strive to convey the truth in whatever ways they can. Following its premiere at Sundance, Watermelon Pictures has acquired the film for a release starting August 14 and has now unveiled the first trailer.

The synopsis reads: “*American Doctor* centers on three American physicians – Palestinian, Jewish, and Zoroastrian – who are bound by a shared commitment to save lives. After volunteering in besieged hospitals in Gaza, they return home determined to advocate for the patients and colleagues they left behind, taking their fight from the war's front lines to the halls of Congress.”

Dan Mecca noted in his Sundance review, “When will this end? When will this violence cease? And when will the United States of America halt its support of it? Filmmaker Poh Si Teng provides a clear and unwavering examination of the genocide in Gaza through her documentary *American Doctor*. It follows three doctors—Dr. Feroze Sidhwa, Dr. Thaer Ahmad, and Dr. Mark Perlmutter—who continually strive to save lives in the Gaza Strip. While some visits receive approval, others are blocked for questionable reasons. Dr. Perlmutter is Jewish, Dr. Sidhwa is Zoroastrian, and Dr. Ahmad is Palestinian. Their goal reflects that of all medical professionals: to heal everyone they can.”
