The initial trailer for Ryan Murphy's adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis's The Shards has been released.

      In anticipation of its premiere on FX and Disney+ next month, the first trailer for The Shards has been released. This upcoming drama series, produced by Ryan Murphy, is inspired by Bret Easton Ellis' bestselling novel from 2023 of the same title.

      The series depicts a group of privileged seniors at a prestigious prep school as they navigate the adolescent struggles of identity, jealousy, sex, and obsession in 1980s Los Angeles.

      The cast features Igby Rigney, Homer Gere, Kaia Gerber, Hayes Warner, Graham Campbell, Wes Bentley, Evan Rachel Wood, and Jordan Roth. Watch the trailer below…

      Set against the vibrant backdrop of 1980s Los Angeles, the narrative centers on a group of high school seniors at an elite prep school dealing with themes of identity, sex, jealousy, obsession, and the hidden dangers of American adolescence.

      At the core of the story is Bret (Igby Rigney), an aspiring writer and astutely observant teenager whose life starts to fall apart with the arrival of a magnetic and enigmatic new student, Robert Mallory (Homer Gere). Robert joins the school just before his senior year, and his arrival coincides with the looming threat of The Trawler, a serial killer targeting teenagers in the city.

      Bret is accompanied by his affluent social circle, including Susan Reynolds (Kaia Gerber), Debbie Schaffer (Hayes Warner), and Thom Wright (Graham Campbell), a glamorous group heavily involved in a lifestyle of wealth, beauty, parties, and indulgence. The vibrancy of their youth is contrasted with the dark and cynical realities represented by the adults around them, including Terry Schaffer (Wes Bentley), Liz Schaffer (Evan Rachel Wood), and Steven Reinhardt (Jordan Roth).

      The Shards will be available on FX and Disney+ starting August 6th.
