Spider-Man: Brand New Day achieves the second-largest opening at the box office of all time with 2 million.

UPDATE: According to the final figures released on Monday, it appears that Brand New Day has indeed surpassed Endgame in North America, achieving an impressive $360 million in its opening weekend in the US, bringing its global total to $932 million. The original story continues below…

Has the superhero trend come to an end? It doesn’t appear so, especially with Spider-Man in the mix. Marvel Studios and Sony’s latest film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has garnered an astounding $927 million globally during its opening weekend.

This is more than double its initial global estimate of $425 million. In its fourth solo film featuring Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, it ranks as the second biggest opening of all time, just behind Avengers: Endgame, which set a record with $1.22 billion in 2019. The film fell short by $2.3 million of exceeding Endgame’s North American opening weekend record, earning $354.8 million domestically, but it did set new opening records in several markets, including France ($26.6 million), India ($31.8 million), Brazil ($23.8 million), Spain ($15.6 million), Peru ($8.6 million), Colombia ($6.8 million), United Arab Emirates ($6.8 million), Saudi Arabia ($5.4 million), Chile ($5.0 million), Turkey ($4.7 million), Ecuador ($4.1 million), and Belgium ($4.0 million).

In the UK, Brand New Day debuted with $49 million, marking the third-largest opening weekend in history behind Spectre ($63.4 million) and Endgame ($56.0 million). Other significant markets included China ($121.0 million), Mexico ($38.3 million), South Korea ($25.3 million), Australia ($21.4 million), Germany ($20.0 million), Italy ($18.2 million), Argentina ($10.5 million), Japan ($10.0 million), and the Philippines ($9.3 million).

When compared to its predecessor, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which opened with $600.5 million in 2021 and went on to earn $1.921 billion worldwide, Brand New Day seems poised to make a strong push towards the $2 billion mark—an achievement reached by only seven films so far. It is likely to surpass Toy Story 5 ($1.066 billion), establishing itself as the highest-grossing film of 2026 so far, though Avengers: Doomsday is still set to release.

It’s a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker. As he battles crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that no longer remembers him, the weight of seeing his former friends move on without him triggers a change in Peter that may be beyond his control. Yet, this transformation could be the key to confronting a shocking new danger to the city and those he cares about—a formidable villain that remains unseen. While the world may have forgotten Peter Parker, he has not forgotten them.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Spider-Man: Brand New Day features a cast including Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo.
