64th New York Film Festival Reveals Main Slate Selection
Godzilla will be joined by some companions at the 64th New York Film Festival. Film at Lincoln Center has announced the 32 films that make up this year's Main Slate lineup, which includes 17 directors debuting in the Main Slate. The festival is scheduled from September 26 to October 12, with screenings occurring throughout all five boroughs: at Lincoln Center, BAM, the Museum of the Moving Image, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, and AMC Bay Plaza Cinema in the Bronx.
Among the featured directors in the Main Slate are Pedro Almodóvar, Lisandro Alonso, Marine Atlan, Sompot Chidgasornpongse, Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel, Ava DuVernay, Arie Esiri and Chuko Esiri, Tony Gilroy, Alain Gomis, James Gray, William Greaves and David Greaves, Valeska Grisebach, Mani Haghighi, Andrew Haigh, Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, Arthur Harari, Hong Sangsoo, Radu Jude, Lee Chang-dong, Mike Leigh, Julia Loktev, Emmanuel Marre, Paweł Pawlikowski, Nicolás Pereda, Chris Rock, Ira Sachs, Angela Schanelec, Markus Schleinzer, Isabelle Stever, Sandra Wollner, and Andrey Zvyagintsev.
“It’s challenging to remember a previous Main Slate program in which the current state of the world has been so vividly represented in numerous creative forms,” remarked Dennis Lim, Artistic Director of the New York Film Festival. “You could select any segment of this lineup and come away with a striking impression of our present reality—I’m incredibly pleased to introduce New York audiences to the works of so many bold and imaginative directors inspired by the common experiences of our world.”
