Emily Rudd and Mason Gooding will confront ravenous alligators in the sequel to Alexandre Aja's Crawl.
Filming is set to commence this month, and The Hollywood Reporter has disclosed that director Alexandre Aja has cast Emily Rudd (from One Piece) and Mason Gooding (from Scream) to lead the sequel to the successful 2019 survival thriller Crawl.
The original film featured Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper as a daughter and father trapped in their Florida home’s crawl space during a Category 5 hurricane, while also being threatened by alligators. The movie was an unexpected box office success, earning $91 million globally against a production budget of $13.5 million.
Details about the still-untitled sequel are currently being kept confidential, but THR indicates that it will "bring the teeth-gnashing to New York, where alligators will roam the streets and sewers following a hurricane's impact on the city."
Additionally, before facing gators, Emily Rudd will appear in another survival thriller, where she stars alongside Austin Abrams in the upcoming film Whalefall [watch the trailer here]. Meanwhile, Gooding can be seen in Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, as well as in Kevin Hart’s Netflix comedy 72 Hours.
