Emerging from 1990s skate videos, Jackass has managed to reshape public perception from lewd, obnoxious misfits to endearing troublemakers. The franchise has remained true to itself, and when it transitioned from television to film, it merely increased its budget for the bigger screen. Charismatic leader Johnny Knoxville and his pain partner, director Jeff Tremaine, have consistently adhered to a central idea: if you film someone getting hit in the groin, it will be humorous. Their commitment has allowed the Jackass brand to endure beyond the fading relevance of its once-pivotal platform, MTV, and its now middle-aged cast.
