Nathan Fillion is set to reprise his role as Guy Gardner in the DC series Mister Miracle.
Nathan Fillion's spirited Green Lantern, Guy Gardner, is rapidly becoming a key figure in the revamped DC Universe. After bringing the character to life in last year’s Superman, Fillion returned for a cameo in season 2 of Peacemaker and is set to appear in HBO’s new series Lanterns, as well as the upcoming Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow. Additionally, he will voice a character in the new animated series Mister Miracle.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly regarding the upcoming animated series that introduces Jack Kirby’s ‘Fourth World’ mythology into the DCU, showrunner Tom King confirmed Fillion as the first announced cast member: “We brought Nathan into Mister Miracle’s show, and it’s truly fantastic. He infuses every part of it with his energy. You might expect it to differ in tone from [Lanterns], but it harmonizes perfectly because that’s who Guy is. He’s that over-the-top character we all know.”
The Mister Miracle animated series is inspired by the acclaimed 12-issue comic series from King and artist Mitch Gerads, following Scott Free, a famous escape artist and son of Highfather, the leader of the kind New Genesis. Raised by Darkseid, the ruler of Apokolips, due to a peace treaty between their worlds, Scott ultimately falls for Big Barda, head of Darkseid’s elite Female Furies guard, and escapes Apokolips to begin anew on Earth. However, with war reignited between New Genesis and Apokolips, their idyllic life is disrupted when Scott’s adoptive father appears to have captured the ultimate weapon, the Anti-Life Equation, making Mister Miracle potentially the only one who can prevent the chaos and bring back peace.
Mister Miracle will be the second animated series in James Gunn’s reimagined DC Universe, following Creature Commandos, and is anticipated to debut in 2027 alongside the second season of the latter.
