Paul Thomas Anderson's Cameron Winter will have its world premiere at the 64th New York Film Festival held at Carnegie Hall.

      After world-premiering his first music documentary, Junun, at the New York Film Festival in 2015, Paul Thomas Anderson is back with a second entry in the genre. Film at Lincoln Center has announced the world premiere of Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall, which will be featured in the Spotlight section of the 64th New York Film Festival. The film will debut on October 1 at Alice Tully Hall on 35mm, with PTA and Cameron Winter in attendance. Janus Films and Criterion recently revealed their acquisition of the film, which will have a theatrical rollout starting November 20.

      Here's the synopsis from NYFF: “For those already familiar with the talents of Brooklyn’s Cameron Winter, both as a solo artist and the front man of the band Geese, his performance at Carnegie Hall on December 11, 2025, was nothing short of revelatory. Accompanying himself on a Steinway grand in a stripped-down set, the show solidified Winter’s status as a distinct cabaret art-pop balladeer, his vibrant vibrato echoing throughout the theater renowned for its exceptional acoustics. Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson was present, along with his Licorice Pizza collaborator Benny Safdie, to document this pivotal moment in Winter's career. The result is an outstanding cinematic concert, filmed on 16mm and 35mm, perfectly balancing intimate shots of Winter with the expansive venue, highlighting the singer-songwriter’s unique blend of confidence and sensitivity, darkness and light.       The 64th New York Film Festival will run from September 25 to October 12, 2026, with passes currently available. Individual tickets will go on sale on September 15 at noon.
