La programmazione di settembre del Criterion Channel include Neon Genesis Evangelion, Penance di Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Abel Ferrara, girl band e altro ancora.

      Il Criterion Channel è da tempo una fonte chiave per lo streaming del cinema giapponese. Queste credenziali aumentano notevolmente con settembre 2026: il magnum opus di Hideaki Anno Neon Genesis Evangelion, la sua versione cinematografica poco vista Evangelion Death (True)² e The End of Evangelion (un altro magnum opus di un ordine completamente diverso) arrivano; mentre tutti hanno in mente Kiyoshi Kurosawa, la sua eccellente serie del 2012 Penance diventa disponibile; il recentemente restaurato Linda Linda Linda è presente in “Girl Bands!”, una serie che include anche Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, Streets of Fire e Clean di Olivier Assayas; e un programma di undici film di Shohei Imamura è stato organizzato.

      La più grande retrospettiva è dedicata ad Abel Ferrara: 19 film, il profilo spazia da Bad Lieutenant e King of New York a New Rose Hotel (il suo capolavoro), Tommaso e Napoli, Napoli, Napoli. Dangerous Game appare sia lì che in una serie su Madonna completata da Body of Evidence e Desperately Seeking Susan, quest'ultima che compare in un programma di Susan Seidelman; anche Robert A. Nakamura e Carla Simón sono messi in evidenza. Quest'ultimo set include il recente Romería, che fa il suo debutto in streaming insieme a Our Land di Lucrecia Martel e al recentemente restaurato director’s cut di Nadja di Michael Almereyda, parte di un set che comprende An Oversimplification of Her Beauty di Terence Nance e Distant Journey di Alfréd Radok.

      Per le Edizioni Criterion, Thief di Michael Mann, Flow di Gints Zilbalodis, Chilly Scenes of Winter di Joan Micklin Silver, Days and Nights in the Forest recentemente restaurato di Satyajit Ray, Blue Velvet e Wildlife di Paul Dano (il regista è anche oggetto di un masterclass Craft of Acting) arrivano; la sezione fuori catalogo include Flesh for Frankenstein e Blood for Dracula di Paul Morrissey, The Man Who Fell to Earth e Pitfall, Woman in the Dunes e The Face of Another di Hiroshi Teshigahara.
