Peacock has decided to cancel its drama-thriller Hysteria! after just one season. The series featured Julie Bowen from Modern Family and Anna Camp from Pitch Perfect, set during the Satanic Panic of the 1980s.
Hysteria! centered on a struggling high school heavy metal band of misfits who discover they can take advantage of the town's newfound fascination with the occult by crafting an image as a satanic metal band. However, when a strange series of murders, kidnappings, and reports of "supernatural activity" instigate a leather-studded witch hunt, the attention turns directly toward them.
Joining Bowen and Camp in the cast were Bruce Campbell, Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis, Nikki Hahn, Garret Dillahunt, Nolan North, Elijah Richardson, Milly Shapiro, Allison Scagliotti, and Jessica Treska. The season comprised only eight episodes and was created and penned by Matthew Scott Kane, who also acted as showrunner alongside David A. Goodman. The executive producers were John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.
