Dragons make their appearance in the newly released trailer for Universal Pictures' live-action retelling of the DreamWorks animated classic How to Train Your Dragon.

Dean DeBlois once again adapts Cressida Cowell’s New York Times bestselling book series, which he previously transformed into a trilogy that grossed $1.6 billion from 2010 to 2019.

Mason Thames (The Black Phone) stars as Hiccup, Nico Parker (The Last of Us) plays Astrid, and Gerard Butler (Den of Thieves) reprises his role as Chief Stoick the Vast, joined by Nick Frost (Skeleton Crew), Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople), Gabriel Howell (Bodies), Bronwyn James (Wicked), Harry Trevaldwyn (Smothered), Ruth Codd (The Midnight Club), Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead), and Murray McArthur (Game of Thrones). Check out the trailer below…

“Set on the rugged island of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been sworn enemies for generations, Hiccup (Mason Thames; The Black Phone, For All Mankind) is different. As the inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler), Hiccup challenges centuries of tradition by befriending Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unexpected friendship uncovers the true essence of dragons, questioning the very core of Viking society.

With the brave and ambitious Astrid (BAFTA nominee Nico Parker; Dumbo, The Last of Us) and the village’s eccentric blacksmith Gobber (Nick Frost; Snow White and the Huntsman, Shaun of the Dead) supporting him, Hiccup faces a world divided by fear and ignorance. When an ancient danger threatens both Vikings and dragons, Hiccup’s bond with Toothless becomes vital to creating a new path forward. Together, they must traverse the fragile journey toward harmony, rising above the limitations of their worlds and redefining what it means to be a hero and a leader.”

How to Train Your Dragon arrives in theaters worldwide on June 13th.
