Benedict Cumberbatch taking over Tom Hardy's role in Blood on Snow.

Benedict Cumberbatch has been confirmed to star in Blood on Snow, with THR reporting that he will take over a role previously intended for Tom Hardy.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson leads the crime thriller directed by Cary Fukunaga, who also directed No Time To Die, alongside Cumberbatch, Eva Green, Emma Laird, and Ben Mendelsohn. In the film, Taylor-Johnson plays Olav, a hitman/fixer tasked by his mob boss to eliminate the boss's unfaithful wife. However, when Olav convinces himself he has fallen in love with her and decides not to kill her, it triggers a series of tragic events that could lead to a violent mob war.

Tom Hardy was initially set to star and produce but has withdrawn due to scheduling conflicts. While not yet officially confirmed, it is reported that Cumberbatch will assume Hardy's role as a competing mob boss known as the Fisherman.

As previously mentioned, the film is based on the novel by Jo Nesbo, who co-wrote the script with Ben Powers. THR also notes that Mike Larocca and Michael Schaefer of Department M will produce and fully finance the film. Fukunaga, Nesbo, Tracey Seaward, Niclas Salomonsson, and Dean Baker are also part of the producing team. Production for Blood on Snow is set to commence at the end of the month in Latvia.

While it is true that a mother feels a profound love for her daughter (and vice-versa), this affection is characterized by complexity and frequently intertwined with feelings of resentment. Deborah Levy, a British author, addresses this in her 2016 novel Hot Milk.
