Flickering Myth and Shepka Productions have announced the suspense thriller Death Among the Pines.

      Following their recent collaboration on the gothic horror film The Baby in the Basket (now available in the US and UK), Flickering Myth, Shepka Productions, and Jolliffe Productions have announced that production for their next project, Death Among the Pines, will commence next month, aiming for a 2026 release date.

      The screenplay for this Hitchcockian suspense thriller is written by genre author Tom Jolliffe (Renegades, Cinderella’s Revenge) and will feature a cast that includes Nicolette McKeown (Mercy Falls, Damaged), Nathan Shepka (When Darkness Falls, Dead Before They Wake), Stephen Kerr (The Defender, The Reign of Queen Ginnarra), and Olly Bassi (Dick Dynamite: 1944, Masters of the Air).

      Set in late 1970s Scotland, the story follows farm cottage resident Angela (McKeown) who answers the door to a damp and disheveled stranger (Shepka) claiming he has a flat tire a few miles away. Although Angela invites him in to warm up, questions arise about his honesty. The situation escalates when a police officer (Kerr) arrives to ask questions.

      Production is scheduled to start in mid-March in southern Scotland, with Nathan Shepka returning to direct after his work on 2025’s Dead Before They Wake and The Baby in the Basket. The film is being produced by Flickering Myth's CEO Gary Collinson and executive producer Sanatan Kadakia from Hidden Ridge Productions.

      This announcement follows the recent UK and US release of The Baby in the Basket, which has drawn parallels to classic British horror films like those from Hammer Films and was referred to by The Guardian as “low-budget nun fun.” The film is currently available for streaming on Tubi in the US and on Prime Video, Apple TV, and Sky Store in the UK, as well as on DVD through Amazon and HMV, where it recently debuted at #31 on The Official UK Video Chart.
