Jon Bernthal will reprise his role in a special centering on The Punisher for Disney+.
With the premiere of *Daredevil: Born Again* just a week away, Entertainment Weekly has reported that Marvel Studios is creating a new special centered around Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, also known as the vigilante The Punisher.
Bernthal portrayed The Punisher for the first time in the second season of Netflix’s *Daredevil*, where he clashed with the Man Without Fear while seeking vengeance for his family's murder. He later received his own spin-off series, *The Punisher*, which aired for two seasons, further exploring Frank's mission to eliminate those who conspired to kill him and his family and to bring punishment to those who avoided justice.
This *Punisher* special will follow a format similar to the Disney+ specials *Werewolf by Night* and *Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special*. Bernthal will co-write the script alongside Reinaldo Marcus Green (We Own The Night), who will also direct the project. Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum teased, “It’s like a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story. It’s so exciting.”
In the first season of *Daredevil: Born Again*, Bernthal will reprise his role as The Punisher, as Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil seeks him out for assistance. The *Punisher* special is set to air in 2026 alongside the second season of *Born Again*.
In *Daredevil: Born Again*, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a visually impaired lawyer with enhanced abilities, strives for justice through his busy law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his political ambitions in New York. As their pasts start to resurface, both men are destined to cross paths.
The series features a cast that includes Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, Ayelet Zurer, and Jon Bernthal.
*Daredevil: Born Again* will be available for streaming on Disney+ starting March 4th.
