Adult Swim has unveiled a trailer for "Lazarus," an upcoming anime sci-fi thriller series by Shinichirō Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop). The story revolves around a group of heroes on the hunt for a deranged neuroscientist who is holding the world hostage. Watch the trailer below.
Set in the year 2052, the world appears to be approaching an era of extraordinary peace and stability, largely due to the painkiller drug "Hapna," created by the esteemed neuroscientist Dr. Skinner. With its widespread use and no known side effects, Hapna is believed to have liberated humanity from pain. However, Dr. Skinner mysteriously vanished without a trace.
Three years later, he returns as a prophet, bringing about countless deaths and the collapse of civilization. Hapna has a deadly, retroactive effect, which surfaces three years post-ingestion, affecting even those who have only taken it once. Humanity has only thirty days left before facing extinction. The only solution lies in obtaining the cure that only Skinner possesses, but first, they must locate him.
"Lazarus" is set to premiere on Adult Swim on April 5th.
