With production now in progress for the Green Lantern series Lanterns, the first live-action TV project from DC Studios under the new leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, we have our initial teaser image featuring the two main Lanterns, John Stewart and Hal Jordan, portrayed by Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge) and Kyle Chandler (Godzilla vs. Kong) respectively. Although they are not depicted in their Green Lantern outfits, it's notable that Hal is sporting his Green Lantern Power Ring.

Chris Mundy (True Detective, Ozark) is taking on the role of showrunner for Lanterns and is executive producing alongside Damon Lindelof and acclaimed DC Comics writer Tom King. This eight-episode series will center around the legendary Green Lantern Hal Jordan as he hesitantly mentors newcomer John Stewart, with the pair diving into an investigation of a murder on Earth that leads them to uncover deeper mysteries and confrontations.

In addition to Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, the Lanterns cast will feature Garrett Dillahunt (Where The Crawdads Sing) as William Macon, Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire) as Sheriff Kelly, Poorna Jagannathan (Never Have I Ever) as Zoe, and Ulrich Thomsen (The New Pope) as the iconic DC villain Sinestro.

Lanterns began filming last week in Los Angeles, California, and is expected to premiere on Max in early 2026.
