David Dastmalchian is set to join the cast of Dexter: Resurrection.

Showtime's upcoming continuation of Dexter, titled Dexter: Resurrection, has added another member to its expanding cast, with David Dastmalchian (Late Night With the Devil) becoming the latest addition to the Michael C. Hall-led series.

The specifics regarding Dastmalchian's character are being kept confidential, though his name is confirmed to be Gareth. He joins recently announced cast members Neil Patrick Harris (The Matrix Resurrections) and Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family).

While details about the storyline remain sparse, it will continue from the conclusion of Dexter: New Blood, where Dexter was shot by his son Harrison under the impression that he had died. However, the prequel Dexter: Original Sin revealed that he was taken to a hospital and was undergoing surgery in an effort to save his life, while presumably facing accountability for his numerous crimes.

Peter Dinklage will also star in this season as the primary antagonist, a billionaire with a hidden sinister side. Reports have indicated that Krysten Ritter, Harris, and Stonestreet will portray serial killers, suggesting that Dastmalchian may also take on the role of a serial killer and possibly a target for Dexter.

Dexter: Resurrection is created, showrun, and executive produced by the original Dexter creator Clyde Phillips, with Hall also serving as an executive producer. The series is currently being filmed in New York City and is anticipated to premiere in the summer on Showtime and Paramount+.

Returning alongside Michael C. Hall are Dexter stars David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan, and James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan. New cast members include Uma Thurman as Charley, Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater, Krysten Ritter as Mia Lapierre, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, Neil Patrick Harris as Lowell, and Eric Stonestreet as Al.
