Baby Invasion Trailer: Harmony Korine Collaborates with Burial to Expand Cinematic Limits

While Harmony Korine, known for Gummo, Trash Humpers, and Spring Breakers, has consistently pushed the limits of cinema, his recent EDGLRD projects elevate him to a new level. Following his infrared crime thriller/nightmare AGGRO DR1FT, he is now presenting Baby Invasion, featuring a brand new score by Burial. After its premiere in Venice last fall, the first trailer has just been released ahead of its unique NYC event this Friday.

This Friday's event will be held at Queens' Knockdown Center, where Korine will deconstruct and remix the feature film like a DJ performance, transforming Baby Invasion into a mesmerizing, pulsating experience. Tickets for the event are available here, and it will also include live DJ performances by Harmony Korine/EDGLRD, Doss, Eyedress, and Yves Tumor.

The synopsis reads: “An ultra-realistic, multiplayer FPS game follows a group of mercenaries utilizing baby faces as avatars through AI. Tasked with infiltrating the mansions of the wealthy and influential, players must delve into every hidden corner before time runs out. As they navigate this dark web-leaked game, the lines between the digital realm and reality begin to blur.”

In his review, Luke Hicks stated, “Baby Invasion is a manifestation of Art, setting a new benchmark for cinematic absurdism where every audio-visual component is discarded. Its aim is less about entertainment and more about challenging boundaries, generating dialogue about what films are and the ‘rules,’ frameworks, and techniques they have outgrown––prompting us to rethink how cinema can evolve. Korine relentlessly drives this conversation home, as he has always done best.”
