In a Japan overrun by Kaiju, Kafka Hibino is engaged in monster disposal. After reconnecting with his childhood friend Mina Ashiro, who is becoming a prominent member of the anti-Kaiju Defense Force, he resolves to chase the dream he once set aside of joining the Force… only to suddenly transform into the formidable “Kaiju No. 8.” With the assistance of his junior colleague Reno Ichikawa, Kafka conceals his identity while striving to achieve his lifelong aspiration of passing the Defense Force exam and standing alongside Mina. However, when an enigmatic intelligent Kaiju launches an attack on a Defense Force base, Kafka is confronted with a critical choice in a dire situation…
