Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce the upcoming James Bond film for Amazon MGM.
With Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson stepping back from creative oversight of the James Bond rights in a deal with Amazon MGM last month, 007’s upcoming film will represent the first official big-screen appearance of Ian Fleming’s iconic spy without the involvement of the Broccoli family since Eon began the film series in 1962 with Dr. No. We now know who will be guiding the franchise into its new era under Amazon.
As announced today, producer and former chief of Sony Pictures, Amy Pascal (known for Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man trilogy), is collaborating with David Heyman (of Harry Potter fame) to produce the next James Bond movie under their respective companies, Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films.
“James Bond is one of the most legendary characters in cinema history,” stated Pascal and Heyman. “We are honored to follow in the illustrious footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, who created so many remarkable films, and we are eager to keep the spirit of Bond alive as he embarks on his next adventure.”
“We are taking every creative decision regarding James Bond, which has been expertly guided by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, with the utmost responsibility,” remarked Courtenay Valenti, Head of Film at Amazon MGM Studios. “As part of an elite group of producers who have developed and managed blockbuster film franchises to both box office success and critical acclaim, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are among the most accomplished and respected film producers in our industry. We are excited to collaborate with them on the next chapter of James Bond and are committed to delivering storytelling that honors the remarkable legacy of this cherished character.”
At this time, there’s no indication of when we might see Bond 26 (or possibly Bond 1?), but given that 007 hasn’t been in action since the 2021 film No Time To Die and with a significant $1 billion spent on the rights, it’s likely a priority for Amazon. However, both Pascal and Heyman have packed schedules; Pascal is working on Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, while Heyman is currently deep in pre-production on Max's Harry Potter television series.
