The cast of X-Men from 20th Century Fox is set to return for Avengers: Doomsday.
During Marvel Studios' exciting cast announcement for Avengers: Doomsday, it was disclosed that we will once again be seeing some of our beloved versions of the X-Men. At the time of the announcement, Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and James Marsden (Cyclops) had confirmed their participation in the upcoming superhero film. Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production.
Additionally, a somewhat new X-Men character from the previously planned Fox universe will also feature in the film, as Channing Tatum reprises his role as Gambit following his cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. Tatum was originally slated to appear in the earlier Fox X-Men films, but those plans were halted due to the merger of the studio with Disney. Many were surprised to see him in last year’s Deadpool sequel, which officially integrated these characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
These legendary figures from Marvel movie history are joining numerous familiar faces from the contemporary MCU, including Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier), and Letitia Wright (Shuri/Black Panther). We also learned that the cast from this year’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be appearing as well.
