System Shock 2 receives a remaster for its 25th anniversary on PC and consoles.
Nightdive Studios is set to launch System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster for PC and consoles on June 26th. This forthcoming release is a revamped version of the 1999 sci-fi horror action RPG, where players confront a horde of mutants in outer space. Check out the announcement video below…
For the first time, this iconic PC game will be available on consoles, featuring enhanced graphics, improved gameplay, better performance, cross-play co-op multiplayer, mod support, and much more thanks to Nightdive Studios’ KEX Engine.
Taking place 42 years after the original System Shock, players will awaken from cryo-sleep as a cybernetically enhanced soldier to discover that his starship, the Von Braun, is now under the control of the antagonist SHODAN and her relentless mutants. As this cyber warrior, players must unravel the enigma of the abandoned starship and its new mutant inhabitants.
To defeat the mutants and SHODAN, players will need to develop their soldier's skills and make use of powerful weapons and psionic powers. They can select a background from O.S.A., Marine, or Navy and experiment with different playstyles to find the one that suits them best.
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster includes:
- Remastered visuals with extended cutscenes and upgraded character and weapon models, all presented in 4K at 144FPS on PC and 120FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- The addition of 50 Trophies/Achievements.
- Cross-play co-op multiplayer, allowing players to combat mutants with their friends.
- Comprehensive mod support on PC, enabling the integration of community-created missions.
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is currently available for pre-order on PC (through Steam, GOG, the Epic Game Store, and the Humble Bundle Store) as well as for PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
