      Focus Features has announced the title of the third and seemingly final Downton Abbey film, marking the conclusion of the cherished franchise. Titled Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, the film is scheduled for theatrical release on September 12th, and you can view the first poster here.

      Originally premiering in 2010, Downton Abbey ran for six seasons before transitioning to the big screen in 2019 with Downton Abbey: The Movie. Following its positive reception from critics and audiences alike, the film achieved significant success, grossing $194 million globally at the box office. This was followed by a sequel, Downton Abbey: A New Era, in 2022, which earned $92 million and received favorable reviews; it also featured one of Dame Maggie Smith’s last performances before her death in 2024. In A New Era, her beloved character Violet Crawley, also known as the Dowager Countess, dies in the film's closing moments.

      In Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, series stars Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, and Michelle Dockery will reprise their roles, joined by Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, Robert James-Collier, Joanne Froggatt, Allen Leech, Penelope Wilton, Lesley Nicol, Michael Fox, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, Harry Hadden-Paton, Sophie McShera, and Douglas Reith.

      Paul Giamatti will also appear as Harold Levinson, Cora’s brother, alongside Dominic West as actor Guy Dexter from A New Era. New cast members include Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan. Simon Curtis will direct the film, based on a screenplay by creator Julian Fellowes.
