Jimmy Smits poised to reprise his role as Miguel Prado in Dexter: Resurrection.

Jimmy Smits is the latest actor from the original Dexter series to join the cast of the upcoming sequel, Dexter: Resurrection, where he will once again portray Miguel Prado, the Assistant District Attorney who became a serial killer. Prado was killed by Michael C. Hall's Dexter Morgan in the finale of season three, but, similar to John Lithgow's character Arthur Mitchell, known as the Trinity Killer, this does not stop his return in the new series, which has been in production since January. It remains uncertain how Smits and Lithgow will appear in the new installment, although it is likely to be through flashbacks, akin to Lithgow’s appearance in the earlier limited series, Dexter: New Blood.

Dexter: Resurrection follows closely after last year’s prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, which hinted at the new show by revealing that Dexter survived the ending of 2021’s Dexter: New Blood. While specific plot details are being kept secret, the returning cast features David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan, and James Remar as Dexter’s father, Harry Morgan.

Additionally, the cast of Resurrection welcomes new members, including Uma Thurman as Charley, Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, and Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera. Previously announced actors include Neil Patrick Harris as Lowell, Krysten Ritter as Mia Lapierre, Eric Stonestreet as Al, and David Dastmalchian as Gareth.

About Gary Collinson: Gary Collinson is a writer and producer focused on film, television, and digital content. He is the creator of the pop culture site Flickering Myth and has produced the gothic horror film 'The Baby in the Basket' as well as the forthcoming thriller 'Death Among the Pines.' Collinson also spent ten years teaching film and media and authored the non-fiction book 'Holy Franchise, Batman! Bringing the Caped Crusader to the Screen.'
