Dexter: Original Sin has been renewed for a second season.

      Audiences will see more of a young Dexter Morgan as Paramount and Showtime have renewed the prequel, Dexter: Original Sin, for a second season.

      Set in 1991, Dexter: Original Sin revolves around a newly graduated Dexter as he transitions from student to serial killer. He begins his internship at Miami Metro, where he joins his father Harry and future colleagues on his initial murder cases while refining his killing skills.

      The series performed well on Paramount+, becoming a hit among Dexter fans, with the original series showrunner Clyde Phillips leading the prequel. Pre-production for the second season will commence soon, as Phillips prepares to gather the writing team for Dexter’s next set of victims.

      While it might take some time before audiences see Dexter in his youth again, fans can look forward to Michael C. Hall reprising his iconic role later this year in Dexter: Resurrection, another continuation from the original series and its sequel miniseries, Dexter: New Blood. Currently, Resurrection is filming in New York City and features a cast of both returning and new faces in the franchise.

      Set in 1991 Miami, Dexter: Original Sin tracks Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he evolves from a student into an avenging serial killer. When his violent impulses become impossible to suppress, Dexter learns to harness his darker side. With the support of his father, Harry (Christian Slater), he adopts a Code that aims to help him identify and eliminate those who deserve to be taken out of society without drawing the attention of law enforcement. This proves particularly challenging for young Dexter as he embarks on a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

      The cast of Dexter: Original Sin features Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan, Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Patrick Dempsey as Aaron Spencer, Molly Brown as Debra Morgan, James Martinez as Angel Batista, Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta, Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka, Reno Wilson as Bobby Watt, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Tanya Martin, Joe Pantoliano as Mad Dog, Brittany Allen as Laura Moser, Randy Gonzalez as Santos Jimenez, Aaron Jennings as Clark Sanders, Raquel Justice as Sofia, Jasper Lewis as Doris Morgan, Carlo Mendez as Hector Estrada, Isaac Gonzalez Rossi as Gio, Roberto Sanchez as Tony Ferrer, and Amanda Brooks as Becca Spencer, with Michael C. Hall returning to voice Dexter’s inner thoughts.

      Dexter: Original Sin is available for streaming on Paramount+.
