The remake of Carrie features an ideal casting choice with Milly Shapiro.

      Mike Flanagan has been occupied with several projects, including winning the TIFF People’s Choice Award for The Life of Chuck, but he still finds time for additional adaptations of Stephen King’s works.

      With confirmation that Flanagan is developing a television adaptation of Carrie, it appears he has found his lead actress. Rumors suggest that Milly Shapiro will take on the role of Carrie White, according to a report from Daniel Richtman.

      While this information should be approached with caution, fans couldn’t hope for a better choice for this iconic horror character. Shapiro is most well-known for her performance in Hereditary, where she stood out in Ari Aster’s debut feature. She will bring her unique style to this Mike Flanagan/Stephen King project, presenting an interpretation of Carrie that we’ve seldom seen in previous versions.

      Sissy Spacek and Chloë Grace Moretz have both portrayed the character and, while they successfully captured the necessary awkwardness, they often seemed like models needing to "ugly it up." Although Shapiro is undeniably striking, she also fits the unconventional look that King originally envisioned.

      This new adaptation is planned as an 8-episode limited series for Amazon. Samantha Sloyan (Hush) is reportedly in discussions to portray her mother, which is another crucial role.

      Production is expected to start in the summer.
