Hayley Atwell is set to reprise her role as Peggy Carter in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Following Marvel Studios' hints about more announcements after last month’s substantial cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday, it appears that another name can be added to the line-up for the Russo brothers' upcoming superhero film.

According to a piece in The Hollywood Reporter that discusses recent contracts from leading legal firms in Hollywood, MCU veteran Hayley Atwell has reportedly officially joined the project to reprise her role as Peggy Carter in both Doomsday and the 2027 sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars.

Having made her first appearance as Peggy Carter, a World War II heroine, in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, Atwell has returned to this character multiple times, featuring in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Avengers: Endgame, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Marvel's What If...? Additionally, she starred in the Marvel Television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter.

Details regarding Peggy’s role in the new films remain unclear, but due to the multiverse theme, there is a possibility of another live-action appearance for Captain Carter after her cameo in the Doctor Strange sequel—an appearance that Atwell described as “frustrating” and felt it did not “really serve Peggy very well.”

Confirmed cast members for Avengers: Doomsday include Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman), Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier), Letitia Wright (Shuri/Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Wyatt Russell (John Walker/US Agent), Tenoch Huerta Mejía (Namor), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Kelsey Grammer (Hank McCoy/Beast), Lewis Pullman (Bob/Sentry), Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres/Falcon), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch), David Harbour (Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr/Ghost), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier/Professor X), Ian McKellen (Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto), Alan Cumming (Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Raven Darkholme/Mystique), James Marsden (Scott Summers/Cyclops), Channing Tatum (Remy LeBeau/Gambit), and Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic).

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026.
