A new update for World War Z introduces Community Challenges.
Saber Interactive has released the Community Challenge update for their cooperative zombie shooter, World War Z. This update introduces the Community Challenge event along with new and reworked Mutators, an overhaul of the Extinction mode, and more. Check out the new trailer below to learn about this latest update.
Community Challenges represent a new event type where all players can join together to contribute towards a shared objective over a seven-day period. Players who meet the minimum contribution requirements can earn rewards, provided the Challenge is completed successfully. These rewards are unique and cannot be earned again, with the first Challenge reward being a new skin for the MAG5 machine gun.
The update includes new Mutators:
- Hot Stuff: A Juggernaut appears, immune to fire damage and igniting players with its attacks.
- Cluster Shells: Mortar shells are changed to cluster shells that explode multiple times but cause less damage.
- Doppelganger: Players will be attacked by a zombie version of themselves.
- Fire-resistant: Zombies are immune to fire and do not take fire damage.
- Acid Spit: The Infector's infestation inflicts constant damage rather than turning players into zombies.
- Effective Defence: Defence kits now have greater ammo capacity and durability but are costlier.
- Overprice: The cost of defence kits has increased.
Revised Mutators include:
- Epilogue: Upon attacking the final gates, lethal gas is released for zombies (now recharges after five waves).
- Sell-out: Defence kits are cheaper, but items will no longer be found.
- Taxes: Defence kits are pricier, but players may discover twice the amount of items.
Additionally, the Extinction Mode has been modified to unlock only after completing any map on Insane difficulty. Currently, there are two episodes available in this mode, and finishing either one will reward players with new skins for the Taiga-12 heavy assault shotgun, Hailstorm MGL, and RPGL4 RPG launcher.
Furthermore, new customer portrait frames can now also be unlocked.
The Community Challenge update is now available.
