Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden, and Olivia Colman will star in Netflix's adaptation of Pride & Prejudice.
Netflix has addressed any disinterest in yet another adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice by enlisting the talents of Emma Corrin (Nosferatu), Jack Lowden (Slow Horses), and Olivia Colman (The Favourite) for their upcoming production.
According to a report from Deadline, the trio will portray Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy, and Mrs. Bennet, respectively, in the six-part limited series.
This new adaptation of the 1813 novel has been penned by best-selling author Dolly Alderton (Ghosts) and is set to be directed by Euros Lyn (Heartstoppers). Costumes, including frocks and white shirts, are anticipated to be worn during filming later this year.
This announcement coincides with the 20th anniversary of the 2005 film featuring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. However, many consider the most cherished adaptation to be the 1995 BBC TV series that helped launch Colin Firth's career as the iconic Mr. Darcy.
For those who may not be familiar, Pride & Prejudice is a romantic novel set in 19th Century England, centering on the Bennet family and their five unmarried daughters, particularly Elizabeth, as she navigates the challenging societal expectations and her emotions for the proud Mr. Darcy.
